The Rumah Penghulu Abu Seman, a fine example of a traditional Malay house, was once house of a local headman in Kampung Sungai Kechil, a small village in Mukim Bagan Samak, Bandar Baharu, Kedah.

Penghulu Abu Seman completed the ensemble of the house from the mid 1920s to the early 1930s. The house was inherited to his son Ibrahim bin Abu Seman which was later being left vacant as he had not son to succeed him.

There are 3 main sections in the house which are the 'balai' hall, 'rumah ibu' main house and the kitchen or dining room. In 1996-97, Badan Warisan Malaysia or the Heritage of Malaysia Trust which promotes conservation and perservation of the nation's heritage buildings, has restored and relocated the house to where it is today.

This is now a cultural and educational exhibit, in keeping with the belief that the built environment is a reflection of the national identity, and thus should be conserved for the future.
