Places of Interest :
 |
Kuah is located on the south-eastern tip of Langkawi and is the island's main town with Kuah Jetty being the take-off point to the neighbourin islands. |
Padang Matsirat is a quiet and peaceful location in Langkawi's green and peaceful interior and originally a series of padi fields. Padang Masirat was originally the name of the padi fields which were set on fire by villagers when they were attacked by the Siamese in 1821. Occurring soon after Mahsuri's death, this was the first indication that Mahsuri's curse was coming to pass. What's intriguing is that visitors can still find burnt rice grains on the ground two hundred years after the incident occurred.
Pulau Langkawi's popular beaches are Pantai Cenang, Pantai Tanjung Rhu, Pantai Pasir Hitam, Pantai Kok, Pantai Tengah, Pantai Pasir Hitam, Burau Bay and Datai Bay . Off the main island are Pulau Singa Besar, Pulau Dayang Bunting and Pulau Payar.
Pulau Singa Besar, about 40 minutes by boat from Langkawi's Kuah jetty is a Permanent Bird and Animal Sanctuary and makes an ideal island-hopping stopover.
| Pulau Rebak, on the other hand, has a privately developed luxurious resort, Rebak Marina, equipped with all modern facilities. |
 |
Pulau Dayang Bunting (Island of Pregnant Maiden) is associated with folklores of childless couples blessed with children after visiting this island.
Pulau Payar, a marine park, lies 19 nautical miles south of Langkawi. The waters off this island are zoned for preservation of marine life.
Other interesting places include Seven Wells (Telaga Tujuh), Kota Mahsuri, Underwater World Langkawi, Lake of the Pregnant Maiden, Royal Langkawi Yatch Club (RLYC) and Awana Porto Malai Langkawi.
