Kuching > Fort Margherita
Fort Magherita was built in 1879, in the defensive edifice/castle style of the late English renaissance, at a location that can overlook the long stretch of Sarawak River. It was named after Charles Brooke's wife, Ranee Margaret. Today it is a Police Museum that houses old cannons, cannon balls, guns, pistols, swords and other weapons. Prisoner's cell, opium dens and the scenes of hanging can also be seen here. Take a great scenic view of Kuching city and the Sarawak River on top of the hill.
